Case Win: Misconduct Allegations in Nursing

Gwen, an experienced New Zealand nurse found herself needing support when allegations of misconduct were raised about her performance. Unsure of how to proceed, she turned to NPANZ for guidance and was assigned a case manager to assist her through the process.  

Gwen's case manager carefully reviewed the details of her situation, ensuring a thorough understanding of the allegations and the procedures involved. Together, they prepared for Gwen's meeting with her employer, discussing potential areas of concern and strategies for addressing them.

During the meeting, Gwen and her case manager highlighted instances where the employer had not followed due process or adhered to their own policies. This approach helped Gwen present her case effectively and advocate for fair treatment.

The employer acknowledged areas where procedures had not been followed correctly and decided against taking disciplinary action. Additionally, an apology was issued to Gwen for any stress caused during the process.
