Case Win: Employment Contract Changes in Nursing

Advocacy & Support for Nurses

Hayley, a member of NPANZ, found herself thrown into the position of interim lead nurse following the sudden departure of her predecessor. The role was made redundant leaving Hayley to take on the extra workload and responsibilities on top of her full time role. Hayley was given a contract to officially take on the supervisor's role however she had some concerns given the reasoning behind her colleague's recent departure.

Hayley reached out to NPANZ for support. During discussions with her assigned case manager Hayley expressed her concerns about the potential mismatch between responsibilities and compensation.

In response to this valid concern, our case manager completed a review of the duties associated with the new position where it was evident Hayley will not be compensated for the additional responsibilities. Hayley was advised to renegotiate the terms of her contract.

After careful deliberation and support from NPANZ Hayley made the decision not to accept the position.

How is the NPANZ so effective in defending members during workplace issues and disputes? Our experienced and professional case managers use our unique RED™ case resolution system.

Why is the NPANZ different? We believe that real change in healthcare STARTS with empowering frontline nurses, not bureaucrats.
